His standup show is a victim of Green’s own mainstream success. I went for similar reasons as yourself, hoping for something that might have been brilliant, off-kilter and memorable. What was delivered was part that, but also a lot of largely forgettable material dragged up and spat out ‘for the fans’.

The crowd contained a lot of obnoxious drunk early 20-somethings who continually heckled in the most banal way. (these guys were eventually ejected to most surrounding them’s amusement and relief) Green humoured them on the occasion he heard them, but the rest of the crowd wasn’t much better wanting well known sound bites and routines, which Green largely obliged. That’s not standup, that’s cashing in. I went with relatively neutral expectations, but left somewhat disappointed. Could have gone either way I guess..
