Why put on new works for the mainstage when Andrew can do adaptations of classics? Take the ripping to shreds of Uncle Vanya for instance. With that stellar Aussie cast and salute to Kingswood Country, it would not only count as ‘Aussie’, they also get to tick the box!

Surely they like Aussie plays? Isn’t there a whole team of people informing and making those decisions? I’d love to hear what they have to say…

plus I’d like to see the results of these new work creative developments/workshops as advertised on their website:
http://www.sydneytheatre.com.au/about/artistic/new-work#Commissions

Does this mean we’ll see STC mainstage productions of works by commissioned writers: Lally Katz, Hilary Bell, Daniel Keene, Donna Abela & Vanessa Bates & Hilary Bell & Noelle Janaczewska & Ned Manning & Catherine Zimdahl (7-On), Nicki Bloom and Stefo Nantsou

or those who had a creative development (in 2009) Tahli Corin, Nick Coyle, Emily Calder, Phil Spencer, Post Presents and Kate Mulvany?

But Tom Wright doesn’t like Aussie plays. Unless they’re tiresome adaptations of ‘yet another Greek tragedy’.

Keep pluggin away though.
