I don’t think, when it comes to the arts, we can have too much of a good thing. Artists are a refelction of society/humanity. This alone provides a rich resource of study that we can present in artform. Australia has this rich tapestry of diversity. As an arts community we make do with the limited funds we have. I saw Snowtown today and If that is what a australian film can do with limited funds then imagine what we can do with the freedom of our artistic counterparts and contemporaries elsewhere. We have the talent, passion, desire, artisitic population and genius to make a consistently flourishing brilliant arts community…but the resources avaialiable (which are, granted, above decent) are like a lottery….it’s not exactly who’s the best, but who’s the luckiest.
