But the follow on model seemed to be the “one-or-two-great-white-hopes-of-playwriting” (Louis Nowra went through a hot period, similarly Hannie Rayson and Joanna Murray-Smith). This isn’t necessarily condusive to good and varied writing either. I do agree, though, that dramaturging rarely seems to do anything more than delay and bland out a potentially interesting script.
