YAK Events is offering groups and individuals the opportunity to develop new or existing work during a two week residency at Shopfront Contemporary Arts Centre.

Submission Guidelines
There are no restrictions on the style, genre or nature of the work you want to make. The YAK Summer Residency is about giving artists the freedom to do as they please.

The residency will take place at Shopfront in Carlton NSW from 4 – 17 January 2010, culminating in a public showing of your work on the 16th. Spaces are limited, so move fast.

Applications will be accepted up until Friday, 4th December 2009.

YAK Events and Shopfront will provide successful applicants with:

. A space at Shopfront in which to develop and show your work.
. Sound, lighting and limited construction equipment.
. Limited administrative support.
. Front of house staff/supplies for the public showing.
. Limited technical assistance if necessary but self-sufficiency is looked upon favourably.

To be eligible all individuals and members of applying groups must be:
. Under 25.
. Responsible for themselves. This includes providing their own operators, technical support, props, etc.
. Aware of and adhere to OH&S requirements when working in an entertainment venue.

Applications should be in the form of a PDF document one page in length. They should:

1) Provide the name, age and contact details of all applicant(s).
2) Describe the individual/group and any recent activities you have undertaken.
3) Describe the work you wish to develop during the YAK Summer Residency, including
technical and space requirements.
4) Describe what you intend to gain from taking part in the YAK Summer Residency.

All applicants will receive the result of their submission by Monday, 7th December 2009.
